Holiday Giving: Donation Drive for the
Forgotten Dogs of the 5th Ward Project.

Every December I pick a charity to do a donation drive. This year I’ve been very touched by the work of the Forgotten Dogs of the Fifth Ward. Their work is not just rescuing, but educating and assisting owners in understanding how to better care for their pets. Some of their stories are heartbreaking, but most are amazing. I encourage you to look at their Website and Facebook Page
Here is their wish list, all can be dropped off at my office:

Besides monetary donations, our next biggest needs at the moment are (in order of need):

* Vet-quality flea meds (frontline, advantix, advantage, capstar etc)
* Gas cards for our feeders
* Newspaper / puppy pads
* Adult dog food – dry (all)

In addition to rescuing…”Our first and foremost goal is to educate and assist area residents who may need help in understanding how to better care for their pets and who may need economic assistance to ensure their pets receive essential medical care. We provide residents with vouchers that cover the complete cost of having their animals altered and vaccinated against rabies. In addition, we provide vaccinations and worming in the field free of charge. We also assist residents in placing unwanted puppies born in the area, and work with those who own the many chained dogs we observe to provide shelter to protect them from the elements.”

Forgotten Dogs of the 5th Ward Project is a Federally Recognized 501(c)(3) Non Profit Organization
