Usually I try to only use short jokes, but I just had to share…
Man is sitting at a bar having a beer. He hears a little voice say “Hey buddy, those are nice pants. I really like those pants, they look good on you.”
The man looks around, doesn’t see anyone else close to him, figures he’s imagining things. A little later the man hears the same voice, “Hey, pal, nice shoes. You have great taste!!”
Confused, he looks around, the closest person to him is the bartender washing glasses. He asks the bartender if he heard the voice, and if he knows where it’s coming from. The bartender replies “It’s the peanuts. They’re complimentary”.
Dear Susan,

It’s summer time! Are you still braving the heat outdoors or hiding in air conditioning? These hot days make me thankful I work indoors.

Do you have a story to tell about your experience

Natural Anti-Inflammatory Foods

SpicesChronic inflammation can cause pain, increase chances of injury and do damage to tissues long term. I often advice people to eat or take supplements to help control inflammation. I find it helps with the care I provide and the healing process.

Adding natural foods to reduce inflammation along with chiropractic care will make a difference in how you feel every day.

These are just a few of the most common, researched and effective items.

1. Omega 3 Fatty Acids – Numerous studies have confirmed the benefit of fish oils.  To quote one study, “250 patients with cervical and lumbar disc disease who were taking NSAIDs* revealed that 59% could substitute fish oil supplements as a natural antiinflammatory agent for the NSAIDs.”

2. Tumeric/Curcumin  – A very common anti-inflammatory.  One study showed the therapeutic effects comparable to over the counter NSAIDs.

3. Green Tea – Still being studied, but research has shown the treatment of arthritic disease using green tea as an anti-inflammatory can be beneficial

4. Bosweilla  Studies have shown that a combination of Boswellia and curcumin (tumeric) works for treating active osteoarthritis.

5. Bromelain/Papain/Proteolytic Enzymes  There has been a buzz about these enzymes for years, and research is ongoing and promising.  A recent study showed “oral enzyme therapy may be considered an effective and well tolerated alternative to NSAIDs, at least in the short term.”

Along with the above you should also reduce carbohydrates in your diet, increase drinking water and eating colorful fruits and vegetables.

While most stores have their shelves stocked with natural anti-inflammatories, be sure to use a reputable brand or purchase in my office.

If you have any questions or would like to see the research articles, just let me know!

ALWAYS speak with your prescribing physician or a pharmacist before adding new supplements to your diet as they can interact with other medications you might be taking.

*NSAID means non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, which are common over the counter pain relieving medications.

I have three products I use in the office to help control inflammation.
Zymain: A natural anti-inflammatory, reduces scar tissue and helps the body heal after injury.
Salizain: Used for natural pain relief, comparable to aspirin.
Pro-Enz: A natural anti-inflammatory used for chronic inflammation problems. Works great for joint arthritis, including disc degeneration in the spine.
Thank you for reading. If you have questions or a topic you would like to me to address, just ask!Sue Bradshaw D.C.
